Drawings for the Mega Millions are held every Tuesday and Friday at 11pm Eastern time. The initial Mega Millions jackpot begins at $12 million dollars and increases until it is won. In the Mega Millions lottery, six numbers are drawn from two different drums. Five numbers are drawn from a drum containing white balls numbered from 1 to 56, while one yellow ball is drawn from a second drum that has numbered balls ranging from 1 to 46.
